The Director is a registered professional nurse who has the authority and responsibility for the administration of the Patient Care Services at LTAC, defining and maintaining standards of nursing practice and quality of care within the institution. Responsible for the formulation and implementation of operational policies and procedures, in conjunction with system coordinators, necessary to meet these objectives. This position is responsible for coordinating, guiding and monitoring the professional nursing practice and patient-centered care throughout Patient Care Services Division at LTAC. The Director collaborates with system leadership to make decisions that impact outcomes across all settings and collaborates with other professionals to maintain patient care standards that align with system mission, vision and values. Is specifically responsible for directing and monitoring patient care standards carried out by nursing personnel.
Provides patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of their license, certification, registration, and/or assessed competencies. Practice will be in accordance with laws and regulations and will adhere to established policies, procedures and practice guidelines.
In collaboration with system leadership, the Director of Patient Care Services – LTAC– is responsible for:
1.Developing, organizing, coordinating and facilitating division specific strategies to achieve organizational objectives
2.Translating the system vision to departmental, operational strategies, prioritizing and executing those strategies
3.Facilitating campus specific vision and implementation of systematic business growth opportunities
4.Integrating varied nursing practices, standards, policies and procedures to ensure optimization of resources
5.Monitoring the healthcare industry to ensure regulatory awareness and compliance while facilitating a competitive position in the market
6.Establishing an environmental framework that celebrates cultural diversity, communication, business ethics, accountability and empowerment
7.Developing and managing a fiscal, operational plan that supports system, strategic imperatives
8.Providing consistent and rational leadership in organizing a response to a crisis and/or disaster
9.Maintains steady state disaster preparedness
10.Development, mentoring and support of leadership personnel throughout the system
11.Performing other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of DeKalb Medical
1.Accountable for directing, supervising and evaluation of patient care given on assigned nursing units
2.Accountable for daily oversight of support services and support service personnel. Collaborates with associated system leadership regarding LTAC services
3.Responsible for management and supervision of nursing managers on assigned units and administrative supervisors
4.Provides executive leadership and direction for patient care and (indirect) support services division.
5.Ensures quality patient care delivery by overseeing operations, practices and policies.
6.Responsible for supervising and directing educational, financial, staffing, equipment and supply needs for assigned units
7.Stays current on new and recommended practice standards through participation in professional organizations and activities that promote growth and development
8.Leads and participates in activities that involve patient care services division or hospital interdepartmental functions.
9.Represents LTAC Patient Cares Services in leadership meetings.
10.Ensures division adheres to organizational service excellence standards and best clinical and administrative practices.
11.Participates in activities that involve nursing division or hospital interdepartmental functions
12.Ensures patient care services division adheres to organizational service excellence standards and best clinical and administrative practices.
13.Supports institutional compliance with all regulatory requirements and standards of practice, including The Joint Commission and CMS. Responsible for developing and maintaining an active “continuity of operations” plans for crisis and disaster situations including plans to keep personnel safe in a disaster and for monitoring the physical/mental well-being, stress levels and demands on staff during crisis/disaster.

•Minimum Education, Experience and Licensure Required:
•Graduate of accredited school of nursing
•Current Georgia license to practice as a registered nurse
•Previous supervisory experience with knowledge of clinical competence in area of practice
